If you live toward the west of our service area, you'll have the benefit of the arid climate, which helps to resist mosquito populations. This will give you a little more success with mosquito control efforts in your yard because you'll have fewer mosquitoes encroaching upon your property.

In Lewisville, and the surrounding area, where humidity levels are in the mid-range for the state, there is a much greater variance in mosquito populations, depending on the efforts made by homeowners. The more homeowners work to reduce dampness and eliminate stagnant water breeding sites, the fewer mosquitoes they have.

Conditions That Attract Mosquitoes

Homes with more vegetation have more mosquitoes because mosquitoes feed on the sap of plants to sustain themselves. If you have objects in your backyard that collect rainwater, you'll have more mosquitoes. Here are a few ways you can prevent the reproduction of mosquitoes in your yard.

Pick up toys from the yard that are able to capture rainwater.
Store objects inside your shed or garage, rather than in the backyard.
Cover objects that capture rainwater with tarps that slant and allow the rain to channel to the ground, where it can be soaked up.
Turn kiddie pools over when they aren't being used.
Apply fish to a birdbath or install water circulators.
Clean gutters to prevent blockages and keep water from pouring over the edges and adding to the saturation of your foundation perimeter.

Along with eliminating stagnant water breeding sites, it is important to take steps to reduce overall moisture in your yard. Here are a few suggestions:

Trim tree branches to let the sunlight into shaded areas that tend to stay moist after it rains.
Trim bushes and put space between your plants to let the air move through your landscaping and dry your topsoil after you water your plants.
Fix any damaged plumbing, leaky water spigots, or hoses.
Keep your lawn and landscaping trimmed.

How long do I have to stay out of my home or property after treatment is performed?

In situations where you have to be out of the property during and after treatment (flea treatment, roach clean-out service, or for health reasons, etc.), we recommend that you stay away until all products have completely dried. This is usually approximately two to four hours depending on conditions, after which time it is completely safe to re-enter the property.
Do you offer any organic/green/low toxic treatments?

We do offer “green” treatments because we understand that though the synthetic pesticides that we typically use are quite safe, some people for various valid reasons prefer a green approach to pest control. In addition to employing completely non-chemical measures such as structural and mechanical alterations (weep-hole exclusions, recommendations on door sweep replacement etc.) and glue traps or other monitoring devices, we have a number of natural and botanical insecticides that we can use to treat your home or business.
We commonly use natural products such as boric acid, diatomaceous earth, and a number of different botanical products (pyrethrum, rosemary oil, cedar oil, etc.). These products can be very effective when used properly. One downside is that they usually don't last as long as synthetic pesticides, so we generally recommend a more frequent treatment cycle, such as monthly, when using these products. Just tell the person you speak with on the phone or the technician who services your property about your preference and we will be happy to accommodate you.
