Keeping Termites Away From Your Roanoke, TX Home Or Business

Nothing will leave you full of regret more than a termite problem run amok. Whether you own a home or business, your facility is at risk for termite infestation. The scariest thing about termites is that they can chew away at a building, undetected, for a very long time causing abundant damage before property owners even realize they have a termite problem. Fortunately, the experts at Adams Exterminating Company have the tools and experience to prevent future termite problems and eliminate current ones.

Here in North Texas, you’re most likely to experience problems with subterranean termites. Like all termite species, subterranean termites live in a sophisticated caste system where members work tirelessly works to fulfill their purpose within the colony.

Reproductives consist of kings, queens, and alates. The queen is the largest member of the colony reaching up to ½ inch in length. Alates or swarmers have wings that they use to fly from the colony and mate.

How To Handle House Mice On Your Roanoke, TX Property

Having an infestation of house mice in your Roanoke home or business is enough to make any property owner cringe. These critters will chew through just about anything once they find a reliable source of food, water, and shelter.

House mice are smaller rodent species that infiltrate North Texas homes and businesses. At their largest, their bodies reach 3 ¾ inches with an equally long tail. They can range in color from brown to grey with a white underbelly. Though you may not actually see a mouse, these nocturnal critters leave behind rice-sized droppings as they explore. If you begin to see mouse droppings, you know you have a problem.

Seeing signs of mice are unnerving, but the problem only seems worse once you know about the hazards associated with a mouse infestation. Firstly, mice reproduce prolifically meaning that, if left unchecked, a small mouse problem will become exponentially worse over time. Mice create sanitation issues within a home as they leave behind waste. If mice are nesting in your walls, they will contaminate insulation resulting in mold and mildew issues.

Aside from the damage caused by their waste, mice also have an incessant need to chew to file down their ever-growing teeth. They will chew through boxes, drywall, wires, and more leaving you with electrical hazards and costly repairs.

Lastly, mice spread diseases that jeopardize the health and safety of your family, your employees, or your customers. Some of these diseases include leptospirosis, rat-bite fever, tularemia, salmonellosis, and lymphocytic choriomeningitis.

When you start to notice signs of mice on your property, like most home or business owners, your first inclination is to begin to strategically set traps throughout your building. Though you may wind up catching some mice, you likely won’t get rid of the entire infestation. Mice are smart, and after a few of their furry friends suffer the wrath of a trap, they begin to catch on. You may try other exclusion methods on your own, but in the end, none are as effective as professional rodent control. At Adams Exterminating Company, we offer rodent control services that will take care of common North Texas rodents including Norway rats, roof rats, and, of course, house mice. Contact us today to learn more about our effective rodent control options.

  • What type of payment options do you accept?
We accept cash, check or credit card. We do ask that you pay at the time of service. Many of our customers put a credit card on file with our office. It is stored securely in our system and only charges AFTER the service is rendered.
  • Do you offer plans or bundles?
Yes, we offer three different plans designed to meet your needs and your budget. Our perimeter, Home Guardian, and Home Guardian Plus are all designed to bundle your pest control treatment into a package that fits your needs. If there isn’t a plan that works for you, don’t worry, we will customize one that fits your unique needs.
  • Do you offer any organic/green/low toxic treatments?

We do offer “green” treatments because we understand that though the synthetic pesticides that we typically use are quite safe, some people for various valid reasons prefer a green approach to pest control. In addition to employing completely non-chemical measures such as structural and mechanical alterations (weep-hole exclusions, recommendations on door sweep replacement etc.) and glue traps or other monitoring devices, we have a number of natural and botanical insecticides that we can use to treat your home or business.

We commonly use natural products such as boric acid, diatomaceous earth, and a number of different botanical products (pyrethrum, rosemary oil, cedar oil, etc.). These products can be very effective when used properly. One downside is that they usually don't last as long as synthetic pesticides, so we generally recommend a more frequent treatment cycle, such as monthly, when using these products. Just tell the person you speak with on the phone or the technician who services your property about your preference and we will be happy to accommodate you.

  • Is your treatment safe around pets?
Our general treatments are safe around dogs and cats – provided they do not intentionally contact or consume applied materials before they have dried. Certain pets, especially aquatic life and reptiles, are especially vulnerable to some pesticides so it is important to be especially careful while treating when these types of pets are present. We recommend these types of pets, in addition to birds, guinea pigs, and other small animals, be kept away from the treatment area until it is safe for them to return.
